Bamboo Has Got the Blues!

My most recent painting has got me wanting to add another canvas or 2, so I can create that unique look that many artists are doing these days. You know, where the artist designs a painting, puts 3 canvases together, begins the painting process, when finished unattach the canvases and Wha-La you've got THREE separate canvases that are now showcasing one large painting! Like this...

However, I think I'll try this technique with a new vision that I have, since my painting process with my above canvas has gone and left my brain. :-)

I Love You...Chipboard Album!

I discovered these chipboard albums at Craft Warehouse a while back and was finally able to work on this project last month. It's quite a lovely gift for someone special or be placed on the mantle in your home...

This chipboard album is a one-of-a-kind that demonstrates an alternative way to showcase your pictures around the house!

These albums make great gifts because they are unique and heartfelt, but easy on the wallet. Personalizing your gifts are one of the best things to do for a person because it shows that there was some time & effort spent on this crafty gift. They are made by BoBunny and come in a variety of words including: Believe, Family, Team, Friend, Beach and Happy among others that I probably haven't came across yet.

These albums are always handmade with love and are designed to put a smile on your face! If you are interested in a handmade, personalized chipboard album contact me for a quote. You pick colors, send me photos, I do the shopping and WHA-LAH the album is designed and created to your liking!

It's 2010 and I'm loving the new year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2010 is going to be a great year....

From getting a new kitten to enjoying a little girls first birthday party, I'm making a promise to living in the now because this year is already moving at a faster rate than the last.

Our new little Prince: Joey
Likes: his long feather toy, his big sisters food, & getting into mischief
Dislikes: being held for too long, seeing a closed door, & boredom

AND here is our Princess Phoebe!! We've had her for almost 5 years now and she is a peaceful joy to have in our home.

Likes: cozying up in bed on Sunday mornings, Salmon Greenies, and her play sessions in the hallway.
Dislikes: loud noises, car rides, and being alone

My time so far has been consumed by my cats and creating new and exciting projects! I've been enjoying the research I've been doing on new trends and obsessed with "How-to" projects from numerous websites. All I know is that my cats are my pride and joy and they give me inspiration everyday into creating new ideas & projects.

Oh and that cute little birthday girl I was talking about earlier...
Here she is:
Heidi Renee @ 3 weeks old
And here's the birthday girl @ 1 YEAR OLD!
Wow, how time flies....

Launching Handmade By Heart!

Woo Hoo! Its official, Handmade By Heart, is my new love! I have always wanted to be an entreprenuer, but never thought I would actually be able to sell my very own works of art!

My first memory of my love for selling things was when I was 10 years old. One of my best friends would always come over and we couldn't wait to transform my room into "Our Little Gift Shop" (OLGS). We would get as detailed as possible...with white christmas lights stringing from my ceiling, different departments in the room, cash register and money!! We didn't use that fake money either, we would put our piggy bank money together to use the "real" cash/coin. Every time we played OLGS, the room became more extravagant...paintings hanging on the walls, using recycled shopping bags and adding stickers to make it our own shopping bag. We had so much fun over the years selling handmade cards and drawings to one of kind stickers & stationary papers and that's when I knew I was hooked on having a little shop of my own!

Take a look on the right-hand side to follow Handmade By Heart on Facebook & Twitter and subscribe to our blog to get all the updates that we post!
Thanks for all of your support.

Sincerely,
Venus Martinez
